The Role

Due to increased client demand for our services, we now have a vacancy for an analytical consultant with a credit risk background.

Founded in 1999, Jaywing’s heritage is in risk and marketing consulting, delivering data analysis skills to the financial services industry. Now, our risk consulting function is part of a wider community of 300+ employees specialising in areas such as data management, digital marketing and brand communications.

Our risk team have supported many lenders in the UK, from high street names such as Lloyds Banking Group, TSB, and HSBC; to start-ups like Starling Bank and Atom Bank, and retail finance such as BNP Paribas and Ikano. We’ve delivered a variety of projects to these clients enabling them to increase profitability, gain regulatory compliance, or improve the way they use data to make decisions.

Through our expertise in data and analytics, we have built models and delivered insight for both large and small organisations. Our collaborative approach ensures our projects deliver true value for our clients.

Jaywing has a unique working culture with a variety of projects that will keep you stimulated and elevate your career. We put people at the heart of our business, an ethos that means our consultants stay with us for many years.

Our Risk Analytical consultants typically have previous experience of working in financial services organisations, and we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is familiar with modelling, forecasting and credit risk analytics.
  • Has experience across a wide range of risk areas. Specific experience in credit decision modelling and strategy and /or IFRS9 would be advantageous.
  • Has the ability to take on a variety of analytical projects and is capable of presenting analysis and its rationale to internal teams and potentially to clients.
  • Is capable of organising their own work and is comfortable multi-tasking and handling reprioritised assignments according to client requirements.
  • Can collaborate effectively with others, both within the internal teams as well as with our clients.
  • Has a strong track record in their career to date, and is looking for their next challenge.

Key Accountabilities

Our Risk Analytical consultants report to the Analytics Director. We have a flexible structure and approach which means the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. Client projects typically have a Jaywing project lead, supported by analytical consultants; or they can also involve working directly within a client’s team to deliver a specific piece of work.

Projects can vary from a quick ad-hoc analysis or a review of a piece of code/simple model to a long-term engagement with a client whereby we become part of their team to build models, set strategies or execute IFRS 9 models and create loss forecasts. This gives our consultants exposure to a wide variety of work to enable them to gain experience in the many areas of risk, analytics, and modelling. At the same time, we provide appropriate support from project leads and colleagues.

We are professional without unnecessary formality, and both our people and clients welcome and enjoy this refreshing approach.

Skills Required

  • Holds a degree in a numerate discipline.
  • Has strong problem-solving skills and good attention to detail; can deal with unfamiliar code and datasets.
  • Has experience in SAS or SQL. Familiarity with R or Python would be advantageous.

More Information

The successful candidate will be based from home. We also work on client sites or Jaywing offices in Sheffield or Leeds. Our clients are spread throughout the UK, so a willingness to travel is preferred. This approach gives us access to the best people wherever they live.

Travel will vary by project and in the past was typically 1-2 trips a month. Going forward, our expectation is that on-site working will be reduced as more of our clients are now used to remote working.

Jaywing employees are entitled to 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays) annually, increasing by 1 day for each completed year of service up to maximum 30 days. Our contracted hours are 35 per week. Employees will receive employer pension contributions and life assurance cover and are eligible to participate in a private health care plan. We are also part of the Oodles scheme which offers discounts and cashback at many high-street retailers, entertainment, and travel companies.
