The Role

At Jaywing, our strength is the efficient delivery of brilliant client work, driving both fame and fortune for brands. We are proud of the quality of our Media and Science offer, and we are seeking an experienced director to join our highly skilled team.

We are looking for an analytical, commercial thinker with experience managing large teams, to lead overall people and operational management of our multi-disciplinary Media and Science team.

Leading, and dot-line managing the Media & Science leadership team, the Media & Science director will be accountable for the day-to-day delivery of high-quality, profitable work to clients, leading execution of the HR people strategy and managing partnerships.

Key Accountabilities 

The Media & Science Director role is a pivotal leadership role in Jaywing. Reporting into the Managing Director of Media and Science, this role will work in partnership with senior leaders across the business. You’ll need an understanding and appreciation of marketing disciplines. The role requires an ability to motivate teams and individuals alike, commercial acumen, relationship building skills and an understanding of how best to pull a team together to deliver results. Your understanding of client needs and expectations will drive the standard for quality and your ability to pull together an efficient team will protect profitability.


Leadership and Management

KPI: People Retention and growth

  • Talent Development - Leading the execution of the people strategy for the Media and Science team comprising 70 people across many disciplines. This will include identifying training needs and overseeing internal and external training, ensuring the development of PDPs across the team and identifying people gap and supporting recruitment.
  • Delivery Team planning - Understanding client needs and supporting the SLT to cast teams to deliver successfully and profitably. Supporting the management team to identify the skills required to deliver the work today and in the future.


Clients and Commercials

KPI: Client Retention and Margin Protection

  • Client work - Setting the standard for quality and supporting the Media & Science SLT and management team to consistently deliver to those requirements profitably through the right processes and capability.
  • Workflow Management - Responsible for overall delivery of client work.
    • Planning and overseeing workflow and capacity to ensure effective and efficient delivery into the client.
    • Provide support to the Media & Science management team ensuring that processes are adhered to and help plan more complex projects.
    • Working closely with Media & Science leaders set out the right approach, and estimate the timescales, plan the work and ensure we manage workloads appropriately.
    • Monitoring delivery, supporting the team Heads day to day to work efficiently and effectively together to ensure work is completed in line with client and business demands.
    • Attend key briefing sessions on major client projects to ensure that resource skills and availability can be met.
  • Commercials - With an understanding of market value and time required for work to enable effective costing. Accountable for approving client commercials to protect margin. With a comprehensive understanding of the business model, the Director should help to drive additional revenue through the team wherever possible.



KPI: Proposition Development and Client revenue growth

  • Delivery of Strategic Projects - Oversee the delivery of Media & Science strategic projects, ensuring value to cost business cases are thorough and accurate, project plans are agreed upon, then executed against. Support SLT and management team identifying all core, assumptions, challenges and dependencies, and providing appropriate mitigating actions.
  • Partnerships - Managing partner relationships and commercial agreements. Identifying new partners that can enhance our Media & Science offer.
